I have a very set list of restaurants I frequent when I'm looking to satisfy a specific appetite. For Chinese I go to Little Ollie's, Italian you'll find me at Bruno's, Breakfast is forever at Peach's, and when I'm hankering for some good old Mexicano I always go to Su Casa. It's been a Ward family haunt for over seven years now, and we have never seen a reason to switch it up. The food is delicious. Predictable, yes, but the customers usually aren't looking for something fancy. Su Casa is located downstairs from the Wild Fig, just a step away from central Aspen. It's not much on the outside, but the inside is locked in a perpetual state of fiesta. Sombrero's and colorful paper flowers are stuck in every available corner, the walls and floors are cheerfully tiled, and a smoking bottle of Tabasco occupies the center of every table. The wait staff is cheerful and helpful throughout your entire stay. They do not hustle you to a table with the standard harassed waitress impatience, and after your meal they are perfectly content to let you relax and digest for a bit. They're fairly quick with seating a party but are also lenient if you seat yourself. Imminently you are supplied with a heaping basket of chips, well salted, and often still hot from the fryer. The salsa is fresh and tangy, with a hint of spice. There are plenty of other dips available for purchase as well. I don't recommend getting too full though; leave some space for the food. There is every kind of Mexican food on the menu. Quesadillas, ceviches, burritos, enchiladas, tacos, salads, chimichangas, and my personal favorite, the fajitas. They come out on this sizzling cast iron platter, and you can hear them hiss from anywhere in the restaurant. They leave a trail of delicious greasy steam behind them that trails all the way back to the skillet they came from. There will be no lukewarm chewy meat tonight, no sir. The onions, peppers, and meat are still spitting flames when they reach your plate. It's an explosion of flavor that just keeps giving and giving. I highly recommend it. Everything is good though. The specialties are all creative, and a terrific blend of flavors. The classics will satisfy all cravings, and the portions are enormous. Any meal is big enough for two hungry people. If you're starving get your own. All the prices are wallet friendly. Another enormous plus to Su Casa is Happy Hour. I have never personally tried it out, but I've heard Su Casa has the best happy hour deals in Aspen. The bar menu is super reasonable, and I've seen people burn through their margaritas like water. Apparently they're a must try. Read more reviews by Catherine

I went here with my sister on Friday night and had a wonderful meal. The portions were huge, we could have split a combo! I had the seafood combo and loved it. Everything was so fresh and light. The presentation was beautiful, with a whole sliced avocado on top! The price was very reasonable for Aspen, only $54 for an amazing appetizer (spicy cheese), two entrees, a margarita, and the fried ice cream dessert. I can't wait to go back. The only con was that it took a long time to be seated even though the restaurant was pretty empty.

We had a great dining experience with Su casa. Waiters were prompt friendly, and courteous. They were attentive through out our entire meal. Two of us split the "the crazy pig" plenty for two people who are moderately hungry. Ingredients were fresh cooked properly and seasoned to taste. Fish was especially fresh and tasty special given so far from the ocean. Chips were fresh and tasy with quality salsa. Kitchen and eating area exceptionally clean and neat. We enjoy quality mexican food and these folks fill the bill we will definitely return.

I haven't been to the Aspen Mexican restaurant Su Casa in a long time. The times I have been there I usually sit at the bar for only a drink so this time we went for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised last night. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender asking us if we wanted to sit in the bar or the dining room. We chose the dining room. We were promptly seated with water, chips and salsa. Biting into the first chip, I tasted one of the best salsas in town. The chips were very fresh. Our waiter was very nice, attentive, and helpful. I had one of Su Casa's specialties which was delicious! A big ceramic pig came out with sizzling stew of fish, shrimp, and scallops in a wonderful onion pepper broth. I had tortillas to dip it in. My only complaint was I had to wait for it to cool down to dig in! I couldn't finish it all either! My companion had the tofu vegetable fajitas with two margaritas. He seemed to enjoy it all. We also split an order of the mulitas which is like a little quesadilla! Overall I had a great time! The service was excellent, the food delicious, the atmosphere cozy, and overall a great experience!

I have to say that for years, I have loved eating at Su Casa. My favorite thing to do is to sit with friends in the bar area and munch on appetizers. I especially love the ceviche. The margaritas are amazing, and so is the salsa. The location of Su Casa is also a plus, since we always go there before going to a show at the Wheeler Opera House. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
