Takah Sushi (closed)

Takah Sushi is always one of my favorite restaurants in Aspen. Everything we order is always delicious. This visit I wanted to try a few new things instead of sticking with our favorite rolls. I ordered the Pad Thai ($26), and Vietnamese Rolls ($8), both delicious. We couldn't resist ordering the Atomic Shrimp ($10), a favorite. The four of us sampled a mix of rolls, edadame ($5), Sapporo, and Sake. We were stuffed by the time we had finished everything and alas no room for dessert. Our waitress (Lauren) was super nice and nothing was left for wanting. All the food was delicious. For a great meal and a great time, I would pick Takah Sushi in a heartbeat.

My friend and I ate at one of the three sushi restaurants in Aspen. I love reviewing Takah Sushi because I love their food. We sat at the bar and met some new friends and caught up with some old friends. We started taking recommendations from one of our new bar friends. The miso marinated black cod was my favorite. It melted in my mouth. My favorite staple at Takah Sushi is their atomic shrimp which was excellent. Off the bar menu we had the Colorado Yellow Tail with a jalapenos on the top. Everything was great! We also had some tempura shrimp rolls and the spicy tuna roll. I would recommend Takah Sushi to anyone looking for a restaurant in Aspen and sitting at the bar is a great way to try new food and meet new people.

Ate at Takah Sushi a few weeks ago. The food is very good and very expensive-- pad thai was $26.00. After the five of us completed our entree the owner informed us that we would have to get a check and leave the table so she could seat another party. We explained that we would like to have a few drinks and sit for a few minutes and she said if we did not order more food, we must leave. Prepare to be rushed out of this place and treated horribly by the owner.

Had a great meal a Takah Sushi. Niki our server helped us navigate the saki choices and we enjoyed two uniquely different sakis. We started with the Miso soup which was just what we all needed on this wintery evening. Edamame of course. The spicy Calamari was the best I've ever had. From there it was really a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Shared a veggie bento box, tempura shrimp roll, cucumber avacado roll, and the diablo roll. All hits. Over all great experience, food, and service.

Takah Sushi has gone very upscale very fast in prices and come down very much in generosity in just 12 months. We've been coming since the turn of the century and what a change. Edamame and a bowl of rice are now $4 each, miso soup is $6 and the sashimi combo for $20+ provides only a few miserable slices. I realize that their clients are all rich these days but what happened to the old price-value ratio? For one dish of edamame, a bottle of Muscadet, a sashimi combo and a crab Viet lettuce wrap, no miso, pickles, salad, dessert, coffee, tea or tip, our bill was $105.38. Owned by a local, frequented by locals, and I only heard raves when compared to the other sushi establishments in town. We rolled in on a Friday night and managed to snag a seat right away, despite that the place seemed packed, and we had actually just been told at Kenichi that we were looking at a 45 minute wait. The veggie spring rolls were delicious, exploding with all sorts of unique flavors. The sushi rolls did the trick, though they weren't quite as memorable. Service was quick and friendly, and the crowd provided ample people-watching opportunities as we sipped our hot sake.
