Excellent. We have eaten here for the past three years and the food has always been great. The only negative is that there is no way to have dinner there. The food portions are pretty large and it is very hard to get motivated to ski back down the mountain...but it is definitely worth going...beautiful views!!!!

After skiing Snowmass for half a day we headed to the top of Sam's knob. Eating at Sam's Smokehouse is a very pleasant experience. We didn't have to stand in line or find our own table like many of the restaurants in Snowmass. We were seated quickly by the big windows. All the seats have a great view of the mountains. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start with. I have had the fried green tomatoes three times now and love them each time. I had the sunny side field greens while my friend added salmon to her salad. I enjoyed my salad.
For dessert we shared the Colorado organic crisp. It was delicious! There was a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle. It is too much for one person but perfect to share.
The prices are great considering it is on mountain food and we had table service. It is cheaper either the same price or cheaper than Gwyn's High Alpine.
Sam's Smokehouse is now my favorite on mountain restaurant to eat in Snowmass Village.

I had the soup of the day which was black bean/chili/vegetables in a lite broth. Fresh ingredients served hot, seasoned perfectly, with great hot roles. My wife had the same thing in a bread bowl and it could have used more broth.
Fantastic views, friendly staff, and a great value.
We will definitely return again for a quick lunch on the hill.

First visit to Sam's Smokehouse. Beautiful grand building with Huge windows that provide great views. The Deli/bar seems to be a bit limited with options of ready to go food. However the menu of Sam's proper has plenty of options. Yes it is a commitment because it is table service but the service and the food was pretty quick. I was a little wary of the vegetarian options at a smokehouse but they offered quite a few that where well thought out. Setteled on the grilled veggie sandwich.
