we skied yesterday to check out the new Elk Camp restaurant - wow, for the first time I am impressed with a Ski Co effort with a restaurant. The design is excellent with views of the mountains, action and everything seems in the right place - a bar looking up the mountain with a fireplace, couches and chairs to rest and warm up, fun murals and photos on the wall, gorgeous ceiling, great outside deck, and best of all the food is good! It's all the things I had hoped they would do at Sam's Knob...and they didn't. The only negative I have heard is that the food is too pricey - even for a couple...but, imagine a family. For instance, a very small round pizza is $10 and $12 if they customize it at all. Seems to me that 7.95 for that size would have been good. Fair prices bring repeat business and happy people...especially when the food and atmosphere are good

Nice place, but very poorly managed. Kitchen setup makes for unnecessarily long lines. Staff stands around waiting for the line to progress. Overpriced, but that is expected on the mountain. I just ask for better service given the cost.
