Restaurant Description
Lu Lu Wilson Restaurant Specials, News, Etc.

The Aspen Restaurant Lu Lu Wilson is the creation from the hands behind the Wild Fig. Transforming a charming victorian into classic dining room. Offering entrees from Colorado Lamb Rack to Nantucket Scallops w/ pancetta.

"Serving modern-American cuisine in a beautifully restored Victorian-era mining cabin, LuLu Wilson evokes the food and atmosphere of the hip Manhattan restaurants that owners Samantha and Craig Cordts-Pearce love. If you crave a hip, urban-style dining experience, LuLu Wilson is the place to be. The feel is shabby chic, with thrown brick walls and rustic wood floors. The dining room glows at night under the light of dozens of crystal chandeliers and shimmering mirrors."

One of my new favorites. Great atmosphere, fantastic flavors in everything from the Salad to the dessert. Also has a good wine list. You can tell the owners really care about the guest experience.

At Lulu Wilson's the flavors just keep coming at you, layer upon layer in beautiful presentations. The restaurant is elegant yet informal at the same time and there's a pleasant hum of conversation, not overwhelming noise. The menu consists of both small plates & full size entrees. I began with a roasted tomato, infused/surrounded with hints of roasted garlic puree, eggplant puree & a million & one other marvelous rustic flavors blended to hit one's palate. My husband had a strawberry & mizuna salad with goat cheese. It was delicious & looked like a still life. We both followed those choices with a warm octopus salad, his with avocado, mine with a brunoise of tomato. The portions aren't particularly large but we were satisfied. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in Aspen but it is quite good.

Lulu Wilson, which I described last year as an Aspen Ze Kitchen Galerie, wasn't quite that on this visit; but it was very good. Two local old friends we ran into at the Music Festival asked what was my current resto fave and I said "I think Lulu, we'll see" and he said "I think so too." We had 2 appetizers and 2 small plates and there was food left over, so no need to go hungry here. Colette had burrata mozzarella with local peaches, fried capers (that's right fried), and arugula which we both agreed was superb; I had a Colorado mixed salad with the usual veggies plus shaved turnips, equally good. Then she had gnudi (ricotta gnocchi) with a tomato and artichoke sauce and greens and I had Hickory smoked BBQ short ribs, spicy and scrumptious with a bit of slaw atop and three giant friend curried onion rings. The bread had a super crisp crust, the butter was properly herbed, the wine guy knew how to pour just enough to breathe and be appreciated (a first in Aspen in 60 years) and the welcome was most warm. Our check with one bottle of wine, no desserts or coffee and certainly no big plates = $102.10 before tip.

I recently went to Lulu Wilson and had an overall good experience. The food was creative and tasty, but all I wanted was a small salad to go with my “small plate”, and my only option was a $15 salad. It was a lovely experience for a small dinner and glass of wine with a friend at the bar, but my bill was $50 and I was hungry at 10PM. If I went there again, I would have a glass of wine before I arrive(along with a Cliff Bar)then I would not worry about the bill so much.
